Samsung Acquires Apps4Android’s Innovative Near Field Communication Technology TecTiles

WASHINGTON, DC (BUSINESS WIRE) – June 13, 2012 – Steve Jacobs, President, IDEAL Group and CEO Apps4Android today announced that Samsung has acquired Apps4Android’s NFC TecTiles application in support of accommodating the access needs of individuals with vision impairments. The terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

According to Steve Jacobs, President, IDEAL Group and CEO, Apps4Android, “We were pleased, that a powerhouse of innovation like Samsung, wanted to embrace our concept of using NFC tags for accommodating the access needs of their customers with vision impairments.”

Apps4Android’s TecTiles Application was first introduced to the market on Jul 15, 2011.

Samsung will be announcing “Samsung TecTiles NFC Tags” on July 1, 2012.  They will be positioning their new product offering as a new application that enables their customers to launch apps, send text messages, share contact information, change phone settings and more, with an NFC-enabled Samsung smartphone.
